ADVANTECH has released a new touch control board for embedded developers, called the ETM-RES02C.
The ETM-RES02C has fast response times for 4/5-Wire resistive touchscreens. It includes software to help integrators quickly configure their applications.
With wide-temperature operation, ETM-RES02C is suited for POS, medical and machine control applications.
The ETM-RES02C has a MTBF of 4,000,000 hours, and provides 4096 x 4096 touch resolution and fast response times of around 10ms for smooth instant feedback.
The unit has USB and RS-232 interfaces, and three touchscreen connectors on board. One is for 4-pin ZIP type 4-wire touchscreen cables, another is for 5-pin header type 5-wire touchscreen cables, and the last one is for 8-pin header type 5-wire cables.
Advantech says it developed its own user-friendly touch software called TouchWare which is included with the system. The software provides three main functions for users to help system integration.
Hot Key Definition divides the screen into segments or frames and provides four default templates for ease of use.
Screen Configuration defines the function of each segment or frame, with the ability to be individually configured to function as the user wants.
Device Detection detects the status of the touch control board and touchscreen. This function forwards abnormal status conditions of the touch system to a service site for troubleshooting.
ETM-RES02C can be used with Windows 7/XP/Vista, Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE Embedded, and Linux OS. However, the TouchWare software can only be used with Windows XP and XP Embedded.
