MTS Sensors has released a robust, high performance magnetostrictive position sensor using its Temposonics technology.
The ATEX-certified ET sensor is suited for use in applications with high temperatures up to 105°C, delivering up to 0.005mm resolution when used in conjunction with a suitable controller.
This high temperature operation allows the ET position sensor to be used in industrial facilities, such as those dedicated to pressboard production or the processing of steel/iron need instrumentation.
The proprietary magnetostrictive technology provides a non-contact, wear-free sensing mechanism, highly resilient to shock, vibrations and extreme temperatures, and of particular use in heavy industrial settings.
This small rod sensor can be integrated directly into a cylinder, with rod length options covering 50mm to 3000mm. It exhibits linearity deviation of less than 0.02% (full scale).
The ET sensors are protected from liquid ingress, rated IP68, and ATEX certification for hazardous areas is available. They have a start/stop interface, and also allow for for sensor parameters to be automatically uploaded. A 316L stainless steel variant can be specified if needed.
