Fast and small robot

ABB has introduced the new IRB120T, a faster version of the small industrial robot IRB120.

The six-axis variant retains its compact, agile and lightweight features, but delivers a substantial increase in the maximum speeds of axis 4, 5 and 6, resulting in cycle time improvements of up to 25 percent.

According to ABB, during its deployment of large volumes of the standard IRB120 robots, the company identified a need for faster versions for use in pick and place applications, particularly in the food, beverage and packaging industries.

The faster IRB120T will also be beneficial for electrical, electronics and automotive parts manufacturers.

The new faster robot can reduce cycle times by up to 25 percent. It also has a repeatability of 0.01mm, and can be mounted at any angle, either in a cell, on top of a machine or close to other robots on the manufacturing line.

The robot comes with the ABB IRC5 Compact control, which includes superior path motion, FlexPendant programming, RobotStudio offline programming, flexible RAPID language and powerful communication capabilities.
