Continuously variable waveguide attenuators

PASTERNACK has launched new continuously variable waveguide attenuators with performance up to 110GHz.

The WR-10 to WR-22 millimetre wave waveguide attenuators, available in five different models, are commonly used in the aerospace, defense, industrial, telecom, instrumentation and medical industries for applications such as high efficiency RF/microwave transmissions, test benches, SATCOM, MILCOM and radar testing.

The variable waveguide attenuators cover a broad frequency range of 33GHz to 110GHz, and can vary the attenuation level from 0 to 30 dB over the specified band allowing the user to dial in the attenuation level needed for the application.

The attenuation level is adjusted using a micrometer, enabling repeatable and rapid re-setting to different attenuation levels. These attenuators also boast flat performance across a wide band low insertion loss.

This is useful for engineers who are testing a system, or testing design concepts in the lab, since they allow them to see how the system will perform at various signal strengths and can also be used to determine the optimum signal performance of the system.
