ETHERSTACK’S trunked radio network will be deployed by the US Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), following a winning tender by its US subsidiary and its distribution partner, Icom America.
The BOR is a division of the US Department of Interior that is responsible for water management in the 17 western states, and has constructed over 600 dams including the Hoover Dam in its over 100-year history. It is also the largest water wholesaler and 2nd largest producer of hydroelectric power in the US. It put up a tender for the supply of a multi-site digital radio network.
Etherstack’s US subsidiary will work with Icom America to deploy a P25 trunked radio network, similar to what is used by many public safety and utility organisations around the world.
For the companies in the US, the win and subsequent deployment indicates a healthy new stage for their joint co-operation in the market.
The P25 digital radio network includes open interfaces conforming to the ISSI and CSSI standards which will allow the Bureau to connect its digital radio network to other regional P25 radio networks allowing interoperability between its employees and other agencies.
This network is Etherstack’s second US federal government network win in the past 12 months, following on from an award with the Naval Reactors Facility announced in October 2014.
