US Ignite has signed an agreement with the South Australian Government, which is set to make Adelaide carbon neutral by 2025.
US Ignite’s Smart Gigabit Communities Program is designed to encourage the development of internet applications that lead to public benefits within the energy, health and transportation industries to name a few.
Current innovative applications include:
- B-Scada’s City Sensing Platform, which collects data for real-time analysis
- Cityzenith 5D’s Smart City, which develops then deploys standard-based solutions.
To help such develops, the state government has said it has put aside just over $4.6 million to help connect Adelaide’s technological workspaces with super-fast internet.
As well as state involvement, the city itself is getting onboard. “We’ve launched a four-year strategic plan to look at a range of measures including reviewing our own fleets, procurement practices, leading by example over the installation of solar PV over more of our buildings,” says Adelaide Lord Mayor Martin Haese
Haese also believes that the agreement and the city’s own innovations will attracts entrepreneurs, startups and large corporates.
