Maxon motor has established a dedicated Aerospace team in Switzerland, in order to develop and promote its motors for aviation, defence and space industries.
According to maxon, its brushed DC and brushless DC motors are particularly suited for aerospace applications due to their thermal and mechanical shock resistance. They also have long life spaces, high efficiency, and are compact. The servo motor systems, reduction gearboxes and sensor systems are operational at high altitudes.
Maxon’s motors have been used in various space projects, including the Rosetta mission. The dedicated team will explore further space-based opportunities, as well as participation in emerging airline technology.
The company says it has been a part of projects for climate control and air cushion systems, and its motors have also been used in autopilot systems, which significantly reduce the workload for pilot and co-pilots.
maxon DC motors have also been used in airplanes’ air conditioning, brake flap adjustment, seat and display adjustment, flight recorders, solar sail adjustment, radar systems and luggage hatch adjustment.
