Hammond Electronics introduces a new IP65 sealed version to its stylish
and ergonomically designed 1553 handheld enclosure series.
Designed to house any electronics or parts where dust and water ingress
is an issue, the new IP65 1553W range features an ergonometric curved
shape that fits comfortably into the hand, and is available in a choice of three
sizes: 117x79x25mm, 117x79x32mm and 147x90x25mm.
Key features of the new IP65 handheld enclosures include UL94-V0 flame
retardant ABS moulding in RAL 7035 light grey or RAL 9011 black, both
over-moulded with RAL 7012 grey soft side grips; recessed top cover allowing a
membrane keypad to be flush mounted; PCB standoffs provided in the top and base;
and IP65 environmental sealing achieved by a rubber gasket in a slot in the
base.
The top and base are assembled with four screws that locate into brass
inserts in the top moulding, facilitating repeated access to the housed
electronics. The fixing positions are outside the gasket, ensuring the
integrity of the seal. An integral end panel forms part of the top cover for
easy machining for cable entry, switches and indicators.
To reduce time to market and modification costs, all 1553W enclosures
are available factory modified with machining and silk screening to the user’s
specification.
