COMPUMEDICS has signed a new $7.5 million three-year distribution contract for its sleep diagnostics and monitoring systems with its Chinese distributor, Beijing Bestmed.
Compumedics, founded in 1987 by Dr David Burton, designed and installed the first Australian, fully computerised Sleep Clinic at Epworth Hospital in Melbourne that same year.
Since then, Compmedics has focused on developing products for the international sleep clinic and home monitoring markets, receiving numerous awards and accolades including Australia’s exporter of the year. It now develops, manufactures and commercialists diagnostics technology for sleep, brain and ultrasonic blood-flow monitoring applications.
The new contract with Beijing Bestmed represents a 65 percent increase in business over the next three years, when compared to the last three‐year contract period. It will see Compumedic’s systems distributed across provinces in North, West and Central China.
The deal also provides scope for the company to introduce its eHealthMedics professional Cloud-based sleep diagnostic services model in to the China market.
Having spent more than a decade developing the Chinese market with its partners, Compumedics is now the top premium supplier of sleep diagnostic and neurological research systems in China. As the company looks to expand into neurological monitoring, Compumedics hopes to capture growth in these largely-untapped markets.
