UK-based SMS Electronics will bring the classic ZX Spectrum back to life, by manufacturing a reincarnation called the Sinclair Spectrum Vega.
The machine was developed by Retro Computers, and production is due to begin in February 2015.
The ZX Spectrum was released in 1982. An 8-bit PC with a colour display, the ZX Spectrum was one of the first mainstream home computers in the UK, playing a similar role to the Commodore 64 in the US, in launching the UK IT industry and encouraging thousands of people to take up programming.
This has resulted in over 24,000 software titles being developed for the ZX Spectrum, with new programs being released for the machine even today.
The Sinclair Spectrum Vega, unlike the original ZX Spectrum, will not have a built-in keyboard. Instead, users will be offered an on-screen keyboard. However, it will be designed to allow it to be easily plugged into a TV, and will also include around 1000 pre-installed software titles.
